Hope After Stroke
By: Jean Murphy
This story recounts the journey through a Cerebral Vascular Accident resulting in an acute stroke. Four months of hospitilasation, and a further three months in physiotherapy followed. Institulisation made leaving the safe environment of the hospital a difficult part of recovery.
Coming out in a wheelchair, and being able to continue cooking, walking the dog, socialising and being generally able to live a full life was the outcome for one unlucky, lucky lady.
The Volunteer Stroke Scheme played a large part in uplifting the spirits of Jean and many, many more like her. one of the aims of the book is to take some of the mystery out of seeing a person happily going along driving a wheelchair, or being pushed along going shopping, or just going places, like everyone else.
